The Seven
The Seven is a series of embroideries created in response to the Killed Women campaign, which highlights the devastating reality that, on average, seven women are murdered each month in the UK by men. Each piece represents one of these women, utilising traditional whitework techniques—pulled and drawn threadwork, cutwork, broderie anglaise, and richelieu/reticello—to embody fragility, absence, and resilience. Stitched in stark white on linen, the work conveys both beauty and violence, echoing the silenced voices of those lost. Through meticulous craftsmanship, The Seven seeks to mourn, honour, and raise awareness, transforming thread into a quiet act of protest.
